A grant from Broadacres will help fundraisers support the outstanding teaching at a North Yorkshire pre-school with improved facilities.
Osmotherley Pre-School plays a vital role in providing early years and school wrap-around care and ensuring a steady flow of new pupils into the next-door village primary school.
The pre-school was rated as “outstanding” in its latest Ofsted report and the challenge for supporters is to continually raise funds to ensure that it continues to provide the best educational start in life for youngsters.
“We are run as a charitable trust and being a small pre-school we depend on volunteers to help out,” said Pre-School Trust Secretary Bethany Bilby.
“There is a limit to how much we can charge which is why the grant from Broadacres is so welcome.”
The £350 grant will help upgrade changing facilities in the pre-school which attracts children from Osmotherley and neighbouring villages as well as those who live further away but whose parents work in the area. It will help the pre-school to have excellent facilities that match the outstanding teaching. The pre-school has very close links with the school and provides breakfast and after school sessions for primary children so children across both settings will benefit from this grant.
Osmotherley stands on the edge of the North Yorks Moors, providing welcome food and accommodation for hikers, cyclists and tourists enjoying the National Park and the school is central to village life.
“The primary school has just over 40 pupils and it is so important that both settings remain open to continue to attract new families into the village to run businesses and support the local economy,” said Bethany. “This year six children from pre-school started at the primary so we are vital for its continued viability.”
