Gas safety checks
We are legally responsible for servicing any gas appliances owned and installed by us in your home every 12 months. At the end of the service we must issue you with a copy of the latest safety check record, called a ‘CP12’.
We will write and let you know when the check will be done. It takes between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the appliances within your home. Please be available at this time or contact us to arrange another appointment. It is a condition of your tenancy agreement that you allow access for this work to be carried out. If you do not, we will take legal action to get access. Please do not make this necessary.
The annual check is really important for more information about being safe, visit: www.gassaferegister.co.uk
Gas escapes
All gas escapes are serious and you should take action. If you smell gas phone the gas emergency number on 0800 111 999 immediately.
Carbon monoxide
About 20 people a year die accidentally from carbon monoxide poisoning. Many more suffer from symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. You cannot see, taste or smell carbon monoxide but it can kill you. We fit carbon monoxide alarms in those properties where the heating appliances may produce carbon monoxide. If the alarm sounds:
- turn off the main supply;
- open the doors and windows to let fresh air into the room;
- contact us immediately and we will send our engineer to check your appliances; and
- contact your GP if you are experiencing any symptoms.
